Returning to my grandfather’s farm in Bedford, Virginia, is a deeply personal journey. It’s a place where tranquility fills the air among sprawling cow pastures and orderly sweetcorn rows. Here, I feel the presence of my grandfather, a farmer, and preacher whose profound connection to the land and its people shines through in his abundant harvests and acts of kindness, like delivering fresh vegetables to neighbors.
In ‘Southodyssey,’ my exploration of the South is explained as I traverse the Carolinas and Virginia, finding moments of solace in Georgia before returning to the welcoming nature of Virginia. Despite the miles covered, the South remains my cherished homeland, where a rich relation of diverse humanity links with the natural landscape, lacing together memories and meaningful connections that resonate deeply within me.
